When to trim — and why timing matters
Most hedge and shrub problems we see in Metro West come from one of two causes: trimmed at the wrong time of year, or trimmed without understanding the plant. A shrub that flowers on old wood (like big-leaf hydrangeas or azaleas) will stop blooming if you cut it at the wrong moment. A boxwood that gets trimmed in hot July sun will brown out where the cuts were exposed to direct sunlight.
We’ve been shaping shrubs across Metro West since 1989. That means knowing the difference between what’s in your yard and trimming it on the right calendar — not a blanket "first Tuesday in May" schedule.
